such as mangroves and salt marshes are carbon sequestration powerhouses but these wetlands are also at the
forefront of sea-level rise impacts. Our team dug into
the wetland sediment record across six continents. We found that as sea level rises, so too does the capacity of wetlands
to capture and lock away more of this blue carbon. Our findings provide
a powerful incentive for the conservation and restoration
of wetlands in Australia and across the globe.
