EPA’s Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge and the 2018 Award Winners

Hi, I’m Andrew Wheeler, Acting Administrator
of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. I want to take a moment to thank all of the participants
in EPA’s Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge. I also want to congratulate the 2018 winners. Each year, EPA recognizes leaders in the electronics
industry for designing sustainable products and recycling electronics instead of sending them to landfills. Electronics Challenge participants have kept
nearly 276, 000 tons of electronics out of landfills. Your commitment to the sustainable management
of electronics proves that innovative business practices and environmental stewardship can
go hand-in-hand. We live in a time when electronics are an
integral part of almost every aspect of our daily lives. Manufacturers and distributors of electronics
not only play an important role in improving our quality of life and productivity, but
they also ensure that their products are responsibly reused and recycled. Your efforts help us maximize the value of
our natural resources in a manner that both improves lives and protects the environment. On behalf of EPA, thank you for your leadership,
and congratulations again to the Electronics Challenge winners and all those who are leading
the way in sustainable electronics. Thank you.
