Fatal carbon monoxide incident investigated at Litchfield home


I AM MARGA BESSETTE FOR 95.7 WZID. SEAN: WE START WITH BREAKING NEWS OUT OF LITCHFIELD THIS MORNING WHERE ONE PERSON IS DEAD AND ANOTHER IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER A HOME WAS FOUND FILLED WITH CARBON MONOXIDE. ERIN: AN AUTOPSY IS SCHEDULED FOR LATER THIS MORNING. WMUR’S RAY BREWER IS LIVE IN LITCHFIELD THIS MORNING WITH THE BREAKING DETAILS. RAY: THIS BEGAN AROUND 6:00 LAST EVENING WHEN LITCHFIELD FIRST RESPONDERS WERE ASKED TO DO A WELFARE CHECK AT THE HOUSE. ACCORDING TO THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL’S OFFICE WHEN THOSE POLICE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AT 22 MOOSE HOLLOW ROAD ONE MAN WAS ALREADY DEAD. A WOMAN WAS ALSO INSIDE THE HOUSE ALIVE BUT UNRESPONSIVE. SHE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE MEDICAL CENTER FOR TREATMENT. THERE IS NO UPDATE AVAILABLE ON HER CONDITION. THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL’S OFFICE SAYS THERE WERE FATAL LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTED INSIDE THE HOUSE. AT THIS POINT THE NAMES OF THOSE INVOLVED ARE NOT BEING RELEASED. AND INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL LOOKING INTO WHAT CAUSED THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK. AND AUTOPSY IS SCHEDULED FOR LATER THIS MORNING.
