SPEAKER: Our modern environment is
making us age in an unhealthy way. High-caloric food is everywhere. Escalators are in every building. We spend entire days in
offices, where we just sit. Studies show that as much
as 94% of heart attacks can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle. The problem is not that we don’t know
what we should do to age more healthy. The problem is that our
bodies don’t want to. Our bodies have evolved in
an environment of scarcity and want, sugar and fat,
calories to survive. And our bodies don’t want
to waste energy on exercise. Our old genes are in mismatched
with our modern environment. This MOOC takes a different
approach at healthy aging. Instead of telling people
what to do, we explore how healthy choices can
become easier, by making small changes in our modern
environment at home, work, school, or in your neighborhood. We will take you around the
world on digital excursions to better understand the
science of healthy aging. We will collect health nudges,
several cues from around the world that help people make healthier choices. You’ll do small experiments
in your daily environment to influence the healthy behavior
of the people around you. And you might even enjoy a longer,
